Quicksilver Corporate Club
Join the official World Water Speed Record Challenge Supporters' Club
This supporters' club is geared primarily to the requirements of owner-managed companies, although its membership comprises a broad spectrum of organisations and individuals - from companies, large and small, to professional organisations and private individuals from many walks of life.
At special events held at regular intervals, the Quicksilver Corporate Club provides corporate hospitality and networking opportunities for members and their clients, suppliers and personnel - and other guests, such as media contacts, friends and family.
These activities are conducted alongside the speed-record project as it unfolds, providing a unique level of access to this exciting international engineering and sporting adventure.
A target of 100 members was set when the club was inaugurated in March 2002. To date we have far exceeded that target with over 250 members already joined, and the number is growing steadily.
Membership of the Quicksilver Corporate Club is obtained with a one-off enrolment fee of £395. There are no further charges.
The rights and privileges of Quicksilver Corporate Club membership are as follows:
Corporate hospitality: For members and their clients, suppliers, personnel and other guests at special events held at regular intervals at the Quicksilver team's HQ at East Midlands International Airport - just one mile from the M1 motorway, between Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. Access is straightforward and there is ample parking space.
Similar events will be held at Coniston Water during the record campaign.
The current format of these events is:
11:00am Refreshments on arrival, followed by a one-hour multimedia presentation by driver/team leader Nigel Macknight on the history of the World Water Speed Record and preparations for the Quicksilver team's bid. In addition, guest speakers often make an appearance alongside Nigel. The most recent day saw Graham Gooch attending as guest speaker.
12:30pm Buffet lunch and refreshments.
1:10pm Chance to view the Quicksilver craft, currently under construction, with the opportunity to ask questions (various team members are present at these events).
1:40pm Other attractions. For example, a demonstration of special-purpose fire/rescue support vehicles supplied to the Quicksilver team by MG-Rover. Departure at approximately 2:15pm.
Name on the Quicksilver craft. The name of every club member will appear in a prominent position on the craft, in the team's distinctive house-style Arial bold typeface.
Framed membership certificate for office reception area or home. The certificate is imaginatively illustrated, individually signed by Nigel and individually numbered, and bears the member's name.
A laminated, wallet-sized membership card - again, individually numbered and bearing the same name - is also issued, and a replica of this card is exhibited as part of a permanent display at the Quicksilver team's HQ.
News/information packs. These are colourful and accessible, and are issued at regular intervals. Members can hand them out to clients, suppliers or media contacts, or place them in their office reception area.
20% discount on Quicksilver merchandise. This may be useful if members wish to purchase items of Quicksilver-branded merchandise for employee incentive schemes, or for promotional purposes - such as for competition prizes.
Networking opportunities. Club events provide opportunities to make useful contacts. Members are from many professions. Media representatives are often present at these events, or can be invited by members if they so wish.
